Amplitude and Phase Deviation in the Nlc Detuned Structure
نویسنده
چکیده
The 1.8m accelerating structure for the NLC consists of 204 individual cells and two coupling cells each differing in phase from their full cell nearest neighbor by 2x/3 radians. In order to avoid the deleterious effects of beam breakup it is required to minimize the trailing wake field left behind by electron beam bunch trains traversing the iris-loaded slow-wave structure. This is effected by decohering the higher order wakes induced by the driving charge and this is accomplished for the NLC structure with a characteristic tapering in the cells to produce a Gaussian spread in the higher order mode frequencies.

A Rapid Re-Design Method for the NLC DDS and Phase Stability of the Accelerating Mode: Implementation and Results
In order to reduce the dipole wake encountered by the first few bunches accelerated in a multibunch NLC scenario the DDS (damped detuned structure) was re-designed such that a much improved Gaussian fall-off occurs in the initial wake-function. From the 9 parameterised model of DDS 1 we use a mapping function to allow DDS 3 & 4 to be modeled and hence avoid additional and prohibitively time con...
متن کاملScattering Matrix Analysis of the Nlc Accelerating Structure
In the Next Linear Collider (NLC)[1], long trains of short, intense bunches are accelerated through the linac on their way to the collision point. One serious problem that needs to be addressed is the multi–bunch, beam break–up instability in the linac. To counteract this instability the accelerating structures are designed so that the dipole mode wakefields are detuned and weakly damped. Detun...
متن کاملManifold Damping of Wakefields in High Phase Advance Linacs for the Nlc
Earlier RDDS (Rounded Damped Detuned Structures) [1,2], designed, fabricated and tested at SLAC, in collaboration with KEK, have been shown to damp wakefields successfully. However, electrical breakdown has been found to occur in these structures and this makes them inoperable at the desired gradient. Recent results [3] indicate that lowering the group velocity of the accelerating mode reduces ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Oscillation Amplitude and Phase Error in Multiphase LC Oscillators
Abstract This work proposes a novel method to find the phase error and oscillation amplitude in multiphase LC oscillators. A mathematical approach is used to find the relationship between every stage's output phase and its coupling factor. To much more general analysis, every stage assumed to have a different coupling factor. The mismatches in LC tanks are considered as the main source of pha...
متن کاملRamping Profile for Exact Beam Loading Energy Compensation in the NLC Detuned Structure
This note determines the profile of the power input into an accelerator section during one fill time prior to beam injection required to reduce the transient beam energy spread to zero, for any group velocity profile along the section, and for any variation of shunt resistance and Q with group velocity. It confirms that the field (the square root of the power) has to be linear for a true consta...
